just though id let you know i was in the water yesterday in a stubby(shorty 3/2) and totaly fine... ofcorse once i was standing around i got chilly.... you should be able to hit that water now man...
i have out of a boat.....but there is nowhere to launch from on the inner bay... there is a few realy tight sketchy places you could launch from but if the wind drops your screwed and stuck swiming back to that spot cause there nowhere else around.... and thats alot of stinkystinky mud to walk through once your to shore....ha ha ha....
what is you suit??? 3/2??? youd be suprised once you get your kite up and going how you dont notice the temp out side.... its once you stop riding and are standing on the beach you start to freeze!!! but if you go right to the car and change then pack your stuff your all good!!!
Check out Silent Sports North of Toronto. That's where I got mine. http://www.silentsports.com/store/ Now I'm shopping for a second kite. Swap is next weekend.
within a few weeks we'll only be rocking stubies(short thin wetsuits) and in a month just boardshorts!!! now that the warmer weather is here the water will get warm quick!!! witch also mean that the wind is going to disapear ha ha ha!!!booo... come on fall !!!!
Hi Wally. Welcome to kiting! I'm new to kiting, too. I took lessons in Aruba this March, so I got spoiled from the warm temps too. I've been out three times on Lake Erie so far (2 x last weekend and yesterday). I bought an NPX semi-dry suit 5/4, 7 mm booties, kiting mittens and a hood. Water was only 4 C, but I was very warm. Guys in dry suits were sweating, probably because the air temp was about 10-15C (last weekend by the lake). I'm told I will need a shorty for the summer, because if it's windy, it can get a bit chilly. Get yourself the wetsuit soon, because windy days in summer are rare (spring and fall are best).
Nice pic! So you just got started kiting. Where did you learn to kite last month? Are you planning to go out tomorrow? It's looking like a perfect day.
p.s. welcome to the site. How'd you hear about it? Enjoy it
